Deutsche Bahn announces 350 new train stations in Germany
The German Pro-Rail Alliance has welcomed the new ‘station offensive’ being prepared by Deutsche Bahn and is appealing to the rail company and the federal states to begin implementing the plan across Germany as soon as possible. The managing director of the Pro-Rail Alliance, Dirk Flege, was pleased with the announcement on Wednesday. “For years, train stations have been closed and the rail networked thinned out. Now 350 new stations are to be built. It will be a minor revolution for the railways in Germany. This offensive for the future started with contracts and signatures in Bavaria, and now Lower Saxony is negotiating with Deutsche Bahn. We very much welcomed this development. The ‘station offensive’ is capable of giving the environmentally friendly railways a boost throughout Germany by bringing rail transport nearer to travellers and making it more customer friendly,†said Flege.
